Mt Manganui

Saturday 14 - Sunday 15 October, 2017

This was the last weekend of school holidays for Alex, so we spent the weekend in Mt Manganui, Tauranga. We left Saturday morning, driving through Paeroa and arriving to a busy Mt Manganui around lunch. We ate on the top of a small hill and then set off to climb the coastal Mountain. Half an hour later we took some happy snaps from the top.

After our decent, we threw the frisbee on the beach for a bit and attempted a swim. The water, at 15 degrees, was too painful and Alex didn't make it. I had a jump in. It was pretty refreshing, but I wasn't in there for long. We then found some delicious thai and spent a long time hunting for a place to camp for the night.

The next morning the plan was to go for a run around the Mount, and then a swim. The weather put a stop to that (as we were about to start, so did the rain). Instead we decided to visit the local salt water hot pools. Good idea Alex. We then stocked up on asparagus from the Sunday market and headed home early to avoid the nightmare Auckland traffic.
